The Organization shall be known as the “NAGARATHAR SANGAM OF CANADA” herein after called as “NSC”. A Nagarathar by definition is one who is recognized by one of the 9 Nagarathar Temples.
Nagarathar Sangam of Canada (NSC) is a non-profit organization for Nagarathars created by Canadian Nagarathars on Feb 15th, 2010
To promote, foster and advance the heritage, culture and customs of the members who belong to the Nagarathar Community also known as Nagarathars residing in Canada.
To preserve and protect Nagarathar Heritage and culture for future generations.
To respect all members of NSC and to give equal rights and opportunities to all members.
To encourage healthy exchange of ideas and experiences among members and the Nagarathar communities worldwide.
To organize social events for the benefits of the members with interest in promoting Nagarathar heritage, culture and customs.
To help new Nagarathar immigrants integrate into Canadian society.
The membership of NSC is subject to certain criteria and approval. The membership of NSC is open to Nagarathars only and:
Members should hold valid residence status in Canada.
Members must not be members of other Canadian Nagarathar Sangams.
Members must pay their Annual Family Membership Fee.
If any of above condition is not met, their membership shall be deemed terminated.
Only if there is an objection to a new member, voting will take place with the new member accepted if there is at least 2/3 majority.
NSC can expel any member based on 2/3 of NSC members’ votes, in person or by proxy, if the member acts or associates with any defamatory or scurrilous comments or abuse any other members of NSC or against NSC policies.
Visitors and Events
Members are allowed to bring their guests to NSC functions after informing the event coordinators.
As Pillayar Nonbu is Nattukkottai Nagarathar traditional event, all participants must be Nagarathars.
NSC will be managed by a Coordinator, event coordinator, a treasurer and a web administrator.
Amendments to the Constitution and Other Matters
No alteration or addition or deletion to this constitution shall be made except with consent of not less than seventy five percent of total number of members by secret ballot.
NSC shall not be dissolved except with the consent of not less than 90% of the total number of members of NSC either in person or by proxy.
